Introduction Letter to the User Manual

Dear Demon Boxer,

Thank you for your interest in what we have created. I assure you what stands before you is only a fraction of what the Demon Box actually is, but what a fraction! I would say this is something wrought from the ethers, that has brought me from the edge of life into the thick of it; has brought me from isolation into good company, and set the table for a feast of friends.

The rate of technological advance is always greater than the absolute utilisation of any one technology, therefore an “old” technology–applied in new ways–can create phenomena even a recent technology does not have the ability to express. Additionally, the potential of any hardware device is only limited by the inspiration, creativity, and passion of the persons using it, and thus I entreat this manual to you in the invitation to a banquet of our making. I assure you: the Shadow of the Demon Box is just as crucial as the Demon Box itself–for the Shadow is what makes it real–just as you are who will make it potential and powerful, subtle and wild, cacophonous and/or mellifluous. Both you and all who engage with it will become part of the Shadow of the Demon. This is a Shadow that will connect you at nearly the speed of light. 

Have no fear, the demons here engaged are not the pernicious demon of yore, or the inimical demons of today. These are demons that have tied their hearts to dancing wandering stars and rest in the penumbra of a wine cask a la Diogenes, or sidled up with Pythia in the hallucinatory vapors of Delphi. These are the demons that resist the human penchant for ignorance and instead eternally engage with the ululating firmament. These demons are angels annihilating ignorance. We bless them onto you as another tool in the philosophical revolutions that may ultimately save us.
