About

There are signals in the walls, music in the hum of machines, voices buried in the static.

Eternal Research listens for what’s hidden—then builds the tools to hear it.

Sound as Evidence

Eternal Research treats sound not as output, but as evidence. We build instruments that reveal what’s already there—electromagnetic fields, hidden infrastructures, the hum of the built world. Our work sits between science and mysticism, grounded in the belief that listening is a form of inquiry.

Revealing what's already there

We build instruments that let people tune into things that usually go unnoticed.
That means designing for both immediacy and depth—something a beginner can pick up and a seasoned artist can push. We treat sound as a way to probe natural, social, and technological systems,
revealing the hidden architectures of our lives.

The work continues

The Demon Box is just the beginning. Eternal Research continues to investigate new ways of listening, building, and revealing. The world is already making music. We’re just making ways to hear it.

Alexandra Fierra

Co-founder, Inventor

Alexandra Fierra is the inventor of the Demon Box and the founder of Eternal Research. Hailing from a family of inventors, her earliest inspirations came from listening to electricity itself. She developed an autodidactic interest in non-traditional styles of music which further manifested when she created a noise project with Bryn in the 2010s, influenced by bands like Einstürzende Neubauten and Chu Ishikawa. It was during this creative partnership that Alexandra's fascinations with electricity and noise music manifested as the earliest prototypes of the Demon Box. In the intervening 10+ years from inception to manufacturing, Alexandra has created two albums with the Demon Box in addition to other instruments like the Demon Viola, Demon Tongue, Demon Harp, Noise Sword, and more.

Bryn Nieboer

Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer

Bryn Nieboer is the co-founder and CTO of Eternal Research. A lifelong musician, she began her circuitous path to this position by attaining a BFA in Film by producing an avant garde theater performance. While producing more theater and television in New York City, she also began composing music for film and radio, leading to a fascination with sound design, synthesis, and electronics design. In 2015, she met a kindred artistic spirit in Alexandra and they began forging a vision that encompassed all that had come before to attempt to discover something new.
